Apidae is Latin for a family of social bees. And as most people know, bee colonies are run by females in the most efficient & organized way. They must work together in harmony for the greater good of the community.

At Apidae, we want to create projects that make an emotional, psychological, and social impact. Apidae Productions can be counted on to bring our voice, passion, & vision to the screen in ways that inspire, inform, & entertain.

Apidae Productions is lead by actress & producer, Melissa Lowe. A love for the entertainment industry since she was a child, she began her journey as a dancer. She received her degree in Theatre from Georgia Southern University. There, she was able to choreograph & direct a couple of shows. Upon graduation, Melissa moved to Atlanta & worked for a non-profit arts organization, while pursuing acting work. Melissa has been an actor on camera in the southeast for over 15 years. During that time, she was Executive Producer on 2 projects with another production company. Inspired to create her own content & provide more opportunities for women & the men who champion them, she founded Apidae. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys her little Westies Coconut & Cannoli, hitting the weights in the gym, going to concerts, dance classes, & a good glass of vino.
